friends that I was e-mailing from Montana . Demmy, or Claudia Remmington
(Tischar) if you read this please e-mail me. My address is
jbarth60@juno.com. Also if any of my 1978 classmates read this and wish to

Elementary Graduates. It is totally amazing how many I was able to remember
from elementary school.

I have not been able to contact Angie Stiles. If anyone has contact with
her please let her know that I would like to link with her again.

Thank you to Bill Farrell for putting together this site.... Great Job

have 2 sons and are currently living in Germany (Frau Jone's revenge for
my not taking German and only being in the Club for the beer).
We have never been able to make any of our reunions due to over-seas
assignments/wars/pregnancies.
To any who remember it; Scott drove the Van until 1990 when we had to
sell it while stationed in South Carolina prior to a tour in Okinawa,
Japan. It was going strong and still may be. His parents are still
driving the Red Ford F-150 Pick-up around Scottsdale, thought they tell
me it is for sell.
Sorry we won't make the reunion this year either. But this is a
wonderful way to remember old times.
We have lost touch with many old friends do to our travels and would
love to hear from old friends. I would particularly like to get in
touch with any of the Etling clan (Lisa, Chris,Cindy,Peggy,Rich)if
anyone knows of their location.

I graduated in 1978. I transferred in January of that year, so I was not a
Bevaer for long. I joined the United States Navy and moved away from
Scottsdale after graduation. After living in seven states since then I
settled in my hometown in Houston and am employed as the estern region
engineer for a rel estate company. I married my wife after meeting her at
a ten year high school reunion in Ogden, Utah (where I transferred from). I
hope all fellow Beavers are doing well.

(Update: November, 2005)

I hope this finds you well. It’s been about six years since I first registered with the web site. I lived just up the road from you then in Alief.

I now live in Plano and work in downtown Dallas. Please include my new email addrees on the site when you have a chance.

Hi

This is a great idea! Scottsdale High is a source of many fond memories. During my time at Scottsdale High School , I saw the school undergo a major remodeling. It was a shame that they could spend 4 mil on a school only to tear it down a few short years later. I run into fellow students from time to time; all who miss and remember the old times. As for me, I have stayed in Scottsdale for the most part the last 20 years and have stayed active around town. I am a past president of the Scottsdale Jaycees; an organization devoted to Scottsdale's Community. I am a Telecommunications Specialist with Cox Communications of which I have been with for the past 13+ years. I am divorced and have 2 wonderful children; Joshua (16) and Christina (14).

I think this site is great.............Keep in touch!

Great job, Bill! I was at Scottsdale High School from '74-'76 before moving to Singapore
where I graduated from the American School in '78. I was surprised and
sorry that Scottsdale High School was closed and torn apart. I'm a clinical psychologist
by training but I run the Hawaii region for a national managed mental
health care company and hardly see patients anymore. Through all my
travels and relocations, I lost contact with a good friend and would

Who would have thought, back in 1978, that we would be communicating to each other through a computer? A lot has changed since 1978. From the cars we drove-'67 VW to SUV's and Minivans, phones attached to the walls in our home to cell phones attached to our hips, rolls of film to digital photo's on line. What can we expect in the next 25 years?

Hi!

My name is Stuart Handley, and I graduated from SHS in
1978. A few things have changed for me since then,
but I still have a lot of love and respect for my
fellow classmates from that time period.

For what it's worth, I was the first member of the
third generation of my family to attend and graduate
from SHS. Among the other graduates were my
grandparents (Lester Mowry, a member of the first
class of SHS graduates to attend all four years, in
1927, Dorothy Donn in 1929, JoAnn Mowry in 1948, and
then myself in 1978). In addition, there were members
of my family who attended SHS in every single decade
the school was open, and my cousin, Darren Green,
ended his sophomore year in 1983. Needless to say,
all of us who could attend the last graduation in 1983
did, and many of us also attended the open reunion in
2000. That was an amazing experience!

Thank you for your interest in maintaining the joy and
wonder that was Scottsdale High School.

Sincerely,

Stuart Handley (Class of 1978)

Just a note to say hi and give a status report. Except for a short time in Orange County, CA in 1990, I lived in Scottsdale and Phoenix until 1999. I now live with my wife, Cyndy, in Bloomington, IL...home of State Farm Insurance and Beer Nuts! We married in May 1998 in Scottsdale. After years of working in retail, most recently with Federated Dept Stores at their credit facility in Tempe (as of May 1999, fellow alum Alyce Attico worked there too), I'm going back to school to get my MA in Counseling. I feel called to work with adolescents and AIDS patients. Ironically, I already had reservations to be in town the weekend of 10/6-9 and will be at the '78 get together at Downside Risk. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Christopher Kellogg, class of '78 also, please let me know. If interested, you can reach me at cncmcb98@e-machines.net.... Charles McBride

I was pleased to see all the old friends who have posted their info on the site.
I have been going, and going, and going since about 1983 when my father and I opened a car wash in Phoenix!
I married in '86, and have two beautiful girls, Hanna 8, and Katie 13, who now live with me after a divorce in 1998.

I recently completed a big transition in my life's direction and am now a contractor doing home additions and remodels in the Raleigh area. This keeps me in town for my girls and gives me time to be there for them after school (single dad).

I was in Scottsdale until 1994, when I moved to Raleigh, NC, to do product engineering and customer service development for my company. Up to that point I was covering the 11 western states, Mexico and Texas. I NEVER HAD TIME to see anyone in Scottsdale, even though I was there!
To those of you who said you never see anyone of your class in town, ditto!

My friends crossed many classes. Yes McCrea, I remember swimming lessons, and I remember the smart allecs who got DIVING LESSONS too!
I also recall midnight at the top of the mountain at WC Elliott Memorial in Papago Park. Also, late night concerts and shows in the auditorium.
As Drum Major, I can never forget watching freshmen keel over after locking their knees at attention!!

Memorable too were the swim team away meets, to the sounds of the beach boys.

We had unparralleled opportunities at Scottsdale High School to be self determined and set our own course. The teachers and the time gave us the freedom our kids do not have today, to have fun and learn and have a lot of lattitude to screw up!.

Hi to one and all. I have to tell you that it was quite a surprise to
hear about this site from David Sutter. Just to see some of the names
and read some of the clips brought back a floodtide of memories. Being
from the class of 1978, a never ending good time, it seems that time
has flown by these past 22 years. After Scottsdale High School , I moved to San Francisco,
had far too much fun, and decided school was where I would rather be.
I ended up with a BS in Psychology and went into the finance world. 14
years later, I decided to go back to school and pursue my true
ambitions of becoming an Archaeologist. I recieved a Master's degree in
Applied Anthropology, and Archaeology then spent the next few years
doing academic research for several university's, living in a tent,
having a ball. I got married and now have three great kids .. so
instead of trying to raise a family on the road, I left Archaeology and
went back into finance, this time with a major US bank. I am currently
a Vice President and manager in a back shop division, working somewhat
normal hours, and even get paid without having to submit a grant
proposal from the National Science Foundation. Life is Good.

Hope all is well for one and all

Hello from Scottsdale! It's fun to see some old friends here. It was tough
to watch the campus slowly disappear.

I attended Pima Elementary also and still live in Scottsdale. I've been
married for 16 years to Adriane Anderson (Coronado, Class of '82) and we
have two great kids, ages 7 and 11. My sister Susan graduated in '75, and
her husband, Jim Lewis in ''70.

After Scottsdale High School I attended ASU and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering,
and have worked for Garrett, I mean AlliedSignal, I mean Honeywell since
college graduation. Nothing like having the company change its name 3
times! Even though the daily job is aircraft engine oriented, I'm still
into cars and motorcycles as a hobby. Adriane and I really enjoy to travel.

Even though Steve Sturm (class of '77) moved to Portland Oregon back in
1979, we still manage to spend our summer vacations together.

If you want to get in touch, my e-mail address is

Hi all. I am Caron Close, formerly Caron Bailey. I graduated in 79, a great year and cant believe how fun it has been reading everyone's stories. Since graduation I have stayed here in Scottsdale, about 2 miles from where I grew up. I graduated law school in 91 and have been practicing law ever since. I am currently an assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Scottsdale, which means I go to work every morning about 1 block from where Scottsdale High School used to stand.
I still cant drive down Civic center without feeling alittle pain of the old school being gone.
My husband is Mark Close and we have three boys, Wayne age 14, Zachary age 3 and Austin age 3 months.
My dad is still here in Scottsdale, retired and loving every minute. Plays lots of golf. My brothers, Chuck, class of 77 is now an Asst. Vice Pres. with Discount Tire in Michigan and Cliff, class of 78 is now a shop manager for Phoenix Concrete in Austin, Texas. All are doing great.
I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion, however, there are alot of people I wont see because they are not in my class, but I would still like to hear from them.
Take care all, Talk soon

Hiya All, Robin Bauer (Class of 79) here..Gawd... it can't be 20 years, but then as I look at my oldest daughter and watch her prepare to graduate from High School this year, I realize that it is so! Seeing so many names of people, remember faces and trying to visualize what they look like today, makes me even more anxious to attend the reunion this year.

I married shortly after high school and moved to the Bay Area where I we lived for about 6 years. Fortunately they couldn't take the desert out of this girl and I moved back "home" to the valley. I was fortunate to stay at home with all four of my children, Taryn 17, Ryan 16, Taylor 8 and Alexis 7 until 2 years ago when my youngest started school. It was time for mom to "get a life" and that I did.

As things change so do marriages and after 18 years I divorced and went my own way (kids in tow). Started working for the first time in 18 years (what a shock), but slowly gained the confidence back. I work for a Fleet Maintenance Software company in their Sales, Training and Marketing Department and love every minute of it. I recently remarried we live in North Phoenix.

I drove through Scottsdale a while back (wondering how I found my way around, what changes have been made) I realized it had been 20 years (plucking grays from my head) and I wanted to find information on Scottsdale High School , the class of 79 and follow up on what people have been doing. What wonderful times we live in to find access and information at our finger tips. Thank you to those who have dedicated so many hours on this web page. I'm looking forward to following this page and enjoying many more posts.

Hey... anyone know what happened to Mr. Barcala???

I am living in Rhode Island and no, you do not need a boat to get here. We ran a Bed and Breakfast out of our home for a few years, but finished the updates (read ‘tax write-offs’) to the house and then I went and got a real job. I am a nurse practitioner, specializing in Geriatrics (keep me in mind as we continue to age…) I retired from the Army with 21 years active and reserve service and hope to live long enough to someday draw my pension.
I am still married and have a daughter in the Air Force, 2 sons still in high school and 1 in college. I am trying to learn to say ‘wicked’ and pronounce the state I live in as ‘Ro-Dyelin’ like the natives do. I live 2 blocks from the ocean in an old Victorian house and know more about plaster and lath and repairing an old house than I ever imagined there was to know. We try to visit AZ in the winter to get a break from the snow (yes, I am a snowbird now). I was back for the All-Year Reunion this fall and enjoyed seeing some familiar faces. Greetings, nice to see Scottsdale High lives on in
cyber space. I was supposed to be in the class of 79,
but since I finished my credits during the summer of
78, I guess I'm floating out in limbo between the two.
Being a beaver was a big part of life from the time I
was 6 years old, every summer I was the one who had to
staple the hand outs together for my dads american

Hi everyone from class of '79,

I just found out about this site and about the all-classes reunion
during my business trip to Scottsdale. So, I'll be back for the Rawhide
Evening.

I read through some of the past e-mails sent in--- It's great to hear
about what some of you ended up doing. I moved (back) to the LA area 18
years ago and now reside in Santa Monica. I think I'm only one who
ended up not getting married or having kids (at least at this point!).

I'm doing digital media technology applications as a VP of Solution
Sales-Retail which keeps me traveling quite a bit. I started running
last fall and did the LA Marathon this past March (2000). My mom still
lives in Scottsdale and keeps me posted of all of the developments, etc.
( I couldn't believe "freeways" finally.)

I hope to catch up with everyone going to this October event and I hope
to catch up via e-mail or phone with the others that can't make it.

What a great idea!!

Rusty Ferracane here, graduated from the best class in all of Scottsdale High School 's history...1979!!! I still get choked up when I drive by the old site and see what happened to our beautiful school. I guess that's suppose to be called progress. Was so sad to loose Mr. Coats recently, and now I just found out about Mr. Stewart from this website. I've had a very busy 19 years since graduating, and I won't bore any of the general visitors with my history, but anyone wishing to contact me and do some catch up is welcome to EMail me! In the mean time, let's spread the word to more of our '79 classmates!!! "Go Scottsdale Beavers, Fight on and Win...Fight on to victory, take trouble on the chin...GO BEAVERS!!"

Hi Everyone.  Lori Hamilton, class of '79 here.
I moved to San Diego shortly after graduation, and it's still home.  I've got 3 kids, Nicole 18, Ian almost 15, and Justin 4.  I'm happily married, and for the time being, am a stay-at-home mom until my youngest starts school.
My Mother is still in Scottsdale, so I'm in town from time to time, and can't believe how the place has changed!!  I wasn't able to make either reunion, as luck would have it, I was too pregnant to be able to travel both times.  So, I'm sure looking forward to the next one.
I can't believe it's been 25 years - where has it all gone?  I was glad to find the web site, and tried to register once before, but it must have been during the time that the site was 'in transition' to it's new domain.  Great job, Bill, and thanks to everyone who made it happen.
I'd love to hear from anyone out there.  My e-mail is :  LMacFarlane@cox.net
Best to everyone!!

Update 2005 - Hi everyone.  Just read about the upcoming all class reunion in October.  Hope I can make this one!!  My e-mail address has changed since my last posting, and I want to make sure it's current, so here goes:  It's   Llynnham@sbcglobal.net   A few changes in my life over the past year, but it's all good.  Hope to see everyone in October.

curious as to why I have not heard of a twenty year reunion. I talked to
Tony Chellowa a few months ago and he thought we would only be having a
twenty five year. Last week I talked with Marty Reger and he is unaware of
any twenty year reunion. If any of you 79'ers are out out there and read
this, respond when you get a chance. Was anybody else lucky enough to get a

Hello fellow Beavers!!! I have not spent very much time in the Phoenix area
during the last 20 years (can it REALLY be that long), and have lost touch
with so many friends. I am living in Charlottesville, Virginia, home of
Monticello, where all speeches include at least one quote from Thomas
Jefferson. Charlottesville is really beautiful- nice views and lots of
wildlife. Except, the "bambi" admiration of deer disappears quickly when
you see 17 of them in the yard eating your daylilies! I have three boys (10
months, and 7 & 9 years) and am married to a Biology professor at UVa.

I also work at the University of Virginia as a radiologist (attended U of A
Med school and did a residency there). I specialize in mammography/women's
imaging. I thought that I wanted to be a doctor even when I was young.
However, Mr. Corbin, who taught advanced Biology, was so enthusiastic about
medicine that I knew that I could do nothing else. Typing was another
matter...

I would love to hear from you all...especially Nancy Fish, Amy Andrews,
Carrie Dawson, Janet George, Sarah Harrison, and ...RATS!- I can't remember
the names of all those cute guys that I had crushes on back then!

See you in November.

Hey everyone from Andre Kelly, class of 79'. Have they figured out how to get that Volkswagon Bug off the auditorium roof yet? Its great to see it just a few short weeks the Scottsdale High School web page is growing strong. Go Scottsdale Beavers! I grew up in Scottsdale prior to being a Beaver a Pima Warrior. Struggled through Scottsdale Community and finally through ASU. After 3 years in Washington DC as a Sales Manager for Westfields International Conference Center I returned to Phoenix as a National Sales Manager for the Pointe Hilton Resorts. After 4 years of playing golf I through it all away for the Medical industry. I now work for Sofamor Danek, comprehensive spinal implants and instrumentation, selling and working the OR's of Phoenix. In reading some of the entries, it seems most have some common interest in driving by ol' Scottsdale High School . Unfortunatly in about 6 months that empty acreage will soon be built upon. Any ideas before It goes, get togethers? How about a monthly coffe club at Jacqueline's across the street every first Saturday morning of the month? Looking forward to hearing from all of you! Great Website! Thanks for putting all the time and effort into creating and maintaining it. It’s been fun reading all the latest and greatest happenings with the class of 1979. Here’s an update on what I’ve been doing the last few years…

I graduated from ASU in 1983 and started working for the IBM Corporation as an Account Administrator. In 1989 I made the switch to Marketing and started selling mid-range computers to small to medium sized Manufacturing Companies. While selling computers, I met my husband who happened to be a widower with two young girls.

We married in 1994. I quit my job (after 10 years) and became an instant (stay at home) Mom. Our two young girls have grown up – the oldest (Courtney) is in her Sophomore year at a small college (Westmont) in Santa Barbara and our youngest is a Junior at Scottsdale Christian Academy.

I’ve been busy doing some volunteer work for a non-for-profit company and taking a Computer course at the local community college! Life is good! For those of you who remember my brothers, Jeff (Class of ’77) is a Chiropractor in Scottsdale (McCormick Ranch Chiropractic) and my oldest brother Jim (Class of ’75) works for a Software Company and lives in Encinitas, California.

I’m unable to attend the All Year Picnic, but am looking forward to our 30th Reunion (can it really be 30 years). Would love to hear from anyone that remembers me from the class of ’79 – I can be reached at pmeijers@cox.net.

Thanks again for making this website possible! Go Beavers – Class of 1979!

I missed our 10 year reunion. I was on the missing list, and did'nt find out about until about 3 weeks after.

I currently live in Mesa. I've moved around alot in the past 20 years. Including a year in Chicago.

I've been a flight attendant at America West for 14 years. Three other classmates work for AWA (a fourth quit 12 years ago). Two are flight attendants.

It does'nt look like we are having a 20 year from what is posted here. But I'll keep my eyes open.

If I hear anything I'll be sure to post it

Hello to all fellow Scottsdale High School Alums!

I am Cathy Stulik, class of 79 (is fine!). You will probably also see postings from some of my siblings, we all attended Scottsdale High School and grew up in Scottsdale. Our youngest is 30 now! I am currently living in Seattle and working on my master's degree in social work at the University of Washington in Seattle. I spent four years in New York City working for Pan Am and have had the opportunity to travel throughout much of the world.
Now I am fulfillling my dream to receive my MSW and do valuable work in the field that I love. I want to thank Ms. Willig (sophmore English '77) for the inspiration. You rock, Ms. Willlig! I would also like to thank Mr. Camwell (junior American History, '78) for his humor and patience with a rowdy bunch. I was not a great student in high school but these and many other teachers that helped to make us who we are today, hats off to all of you!

My condolences to the family and friends of Luther Stewart. I did not have the opportunity to be in any of Mr. Stewart's classes but always heard what an incredible teacher he was.

When I'm home in Scottsdale I always make a point of driving by the site of our school. In my mind it is still there...

Kudos to the people who created this site.

Best wishes, Cathy Stulik

From: Kirk Thompson '79

Hello, fellow alumni!

Been a pretty normal life since high school.  Got married, had kids, worked, etc.  But, I got married late (I was 30!) and my eldest child is in kindergarten, so it's interesting being the oldest guy in the room on Parent Day!  I worked at a Phoenix TV station for 16 years, until I started my own business in the Fall of 2002 working from home.  Tough economic times have made it slow going, and I don't know if the company will survive, but it's been a great experience, no whatever happens!

Meanwhile, for those of you who remember me as the singing-dancing-acting fool, I still do a little of that, but not for public adoration anymore.  All of my theatrical energies are poured into my church's Worship and Arts programs: choir, drama teams, kids productions, Vacation Bible School, all that kind of stuff.  I love every minute of it, and yes, sometimes I miss being in the spotlight at Phoenix Little Theater, but what I do now I do for God's glory rather than my own, and that makes it much more satisfying.  If you wanna see me front-and-center sometime, come to Grace Community Church in Tempe any Sunday!

Special "thank you" to Bill Farrell for maintaining this website so we can all talk about how old and crotchety we've become!  Anybody wanna share their stories with me or say howdy, I'd love to hear from ya!  Reach me at tenco@cox.net.

Beaver's Forever!

Hi, I’m Vicki (Thomas) Bell, a 1978 graduate of Scottsdale High School.

I married my high school sweetheart (although he graduated from Coronado High) in 1982 and we have two kids.

Our daughter, Christina, is in her junior year at the University of Arizona in Tucson and our son, Tyler, is a senior at Coronado High School.

My husband, Craig, and I own the Bell Auto Service on east McDowell Road. Since we stayed in the neighborhood we grew up in, we see many people on a regular basis that we each went to school with.

I enjoy photography and creating stained glass work. Craig races motorcycles whenever he can and together, we go to Rocky Point, Mexico as often as possible.

Anyway, I look forward to reading all of the notes and tall tales on the SHS website.

Keep up the fun work.
